Unravel and Rewind Workshop
Part 1: Join us and our guest creative Patricia McCarthy-Henry for an engaging session dedicated to the art of reclaiming valuable yarn from unworn, unloved, or overly cherished knitwear. In this first workshop, participants will delve into a treasure trove of tips and methods for unravelling commercial knitwear and handknits. Surprisingly, unpicking handknits can pose unique challenges, making this skill invaluable for any knitting enthusiast.
Part 2: Elevate your yarn reclamation journey in our second workshop instalment. Here, participants will progress to the next stage, mastering the preparation and handling of reclaimed yarn for cleaning and reuse. Gain insights into effective storage and care techniques for your newfound yarn stash, ensuring its longevity and quality until its next creative endeavour. Join us as we unlock the full potential of recycled yarn in this enriching and practical workshop series.

Guest Instructor Bio
Patricia is a Banyule resident, BOS (Banyule Open Studios) board member and TACAS (Textile Art Community Art Space) board member. She is the knitwear designer/maker behind the label PMAXI Knitwear and is also an educator at RMIT, Brunswick campus. Growing up in Ireland, always wearing handmade knitwear, as well as learning to knit at the tender age of 4, it is no surprise that knitting became a major part of her life.
Cancellation & No Show Policy
All Creative Community Space classes are limited to a certain number of participants. You need to give us notice if you wish to cancel.
We must receive a minimum of 1 WEEKS’ NOTICE of any calculations. Failure to do this means that your fee has been forfeited.
Last-minute cancellations will also be considered as No Shows
